I would love it if we were in a position where I could be home with the kids! Although, I know the wife does too so it’s not just as easy as wishing for it. Today was a little different though. Four days a week we have a Nanny at the house (I’m pretty sure you already know that) who watches O and Jake while the wife and I are at work. Today she had some appointments so I called out “sick”.
It’s not often I get to be home with the kids since I work 5 days a week (well one day I do work from home) so it’s a real treat for me when I can. It’s something I really wish I could do more of.
O wasn’t terribly hungry this morning but we wound up nibbling on some breakfast foods throughout the morning. Of course I want them both to eat and relatively healthy at that but I’m not going to shove food down their throat. Kids go through different phases and unless there’s some serious issue which usually is identified over time I say just go with it. After working our way through cereal, oranges, PB&J sammy’s (no PB for Jake as he’s allergic), and pretzels it was time to dance.
O has the best moves in the world! I have no idea where she gets them from (not me!) but she is good! She shakes her little butt, throws her arms out in the air and takes it quite seriously! You should see the look of determination on her face as she’s grooving. Jake on the other hand is a bit different in the dance department. He doesn’t dance a whole long time and when he does he kind of has the hip swing thing down but doesn’t groove too much otherwise. I love dancing with these guys!!
Of course, no solid dance marathon with loud music could occur without some old fashioned trash can banging! Oh man, we were wailing on the trashcan and the microwave! We were making so much noise it was stupid!
It was soooo much fun!
I can’t tell them to be quiet all the time, right? I mean, there’s got to be times, when appropriate, when they can just go hog wild in the noise department! They have so much engergy and it’s fun seeing them use it! It’s funny, I’ve found when they’re loud and you’re asking them to be quieter or trying to be quiet yourself it only gets worse. However, if you join in and go crazy wild they usually wind up laughing at you (as if, you’re the crazy one) and then mellow out. Funny how those little buggers are!
The only trick I knew to be able to take a shower with both of them awake was to throw Jake in the crib. At 18 months he’s too young to leave unattended and having O around just adds to that! He’s still putting everything in his mouth and getting into all kinds of things! With some toys in his crib and O busy playing with her Little People I was about to take a speed shower!
I decided it’d be fun to take the kids to see Mommy at work. All of her co-workers were loving them up and it’s always so much fun to see other people really enjoy them. They had fun and it was something they don’t get to do all the time.
A pretty relaxed day overall. I literally passed out writing this post while Jake and O were napping themselves. The wife is coming home soon and I think going to the park is in order! Hope you’re day has been as good as mine!
