One of the best things about taking O and Jake to the park is seeing the look of excitement on their faces as they’re running around having an amazing time. I know one day they will be too old to want to play at the park. I’ll have the memories of these days in my mind but that will fade over time.
I think we forget how easy it is now to capture these precious moments. Just about everyone has a digital camera but all too often we live it at home. Photography is a hobby of mine and I love shooting with my DLSR. The problem is, as I mentioned, I’m forgetting to bring it out with us. I think I’ve been okay with it because I’m able to get the shots I want with my iPhone 4. The camera is so good on this phone that I’m rarely wishing I had my DSLR when out at places like the park. Don’t get me wrong, the DSLR takes much better pictures but for what I want, it’s not necessary. The majority of the shots on my blog were all taken with my iPhone. I think the other thing that helps (as opposed to the DSLR) is that I can take the shot, edit it on my phone, and then immediately upload it to Flickr. You just can’t get more convenient than that and this Dad like convenience.
Most of you probably have a smartphone (iPhone or otherwise) and if you’re not already, I highly encourage you to explore the camera and capture those shots of your little ones. Right now you have good use for that camera but there will come a day when the opportunity has past. One day the only memories we’ll have are the ones our brains allow us to hold on to. For now? I’m going to get as many shots as I can of these two so I’ll never forget these incredible moments.
This past weekend we went to the park and these were some of my favorite shots I got.
